A quarter century ago only a few experts had heard of computer animation. And today Pixar is a symbol of talent and innovation in animation. In the early days of computer animation, people used to ask if the computer made the film. Fortunately, Pixar has come a long way since then; it’s been deeply gratifying to have their medium recognized for the art form that it is.Many people don’t realize that computer animation film studios like Pixar have almost as many artists working in traditional media—hand drawing, painting, pastels, sculpture—as they do in digital media. Most of their work takes place during the development of a project, when they are working out the story and the look of the film. The wealth of beautiful art created for each movie is rarely seen outside the studio, but the finished film which is send around the world would never be possible without it.Pxar encourages their artists to explore as much as possible,to give their imaginations free rein. In turn, their art inspires the storytellers and filmmakers to new heights.
In the years since the Museum of Modern Art in New York premiered Pixar: 20 Years of Animation, the show has traveled around the world. To celebrate Pixar’s twenty-fifth anniversary, they have updated the show with art from the studio’s most recent films, along with brand-new selections from the archives. In these works you will see the creativity and skill that opens up their story worlds and gives form to the visions that drive their films. Pixar are incredibly proud of the studio’s many talented artists, and they are thrilled to present their work in Pixar: 25 Years of Animation.
This exhibition will present feature and short films that the Pixar studio produced in its first 25 years, and shows us the characters, stories and worlds they have created. Visitors will discover the magical world of Pixar from drawings, storyboards, models and digital installations. DO not miss it! It will be magical!
