The Palau Güell, called Güell Palace in english, has been designed by Antoni Gaudí for the industrial Eusebi Güell. It’s located in the Raval district of Barcelona, just near la Rambla, at the Carrer Nou de la Rambla. This amazing place is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Works of Antoni Gaudí”.
The Palau was built between 1886 and 1891, it was not so easy for Gaudí because of the small area (500 square meters) and the location in the city center. That’s why he organised some rooms on several floors and he used the terrasse where he put 20 chimneys for the ventilation with different sizes and extravagant forms which are covered by ceramic.
The facade of the building, really original for its time, is deliberately austere, that is the opposite of how it looks like inside.
You will be able to discover a sumptuous interior with an amazing parabolic dome and so many stunning things that you can’t miss!
Eusebi Güell lived for 20 years in the Palau before to move in Park Güell, the Palau was sold in 1945 to Barcelona’s deputation but to one condition, never being destroyed or modified.
The normal price is 12 euros to visit the Palau, you have to go there to buy it or make your reservation by phone or by email.
